ABSTRACT
Vitamin B6 insufficiency has been linked to increased risk of cancer and other chronic diseases. The circulating concentration pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP) is a commonly used measure vitamin status. Ratios substrates indicating PLP coenzymatic function metabolism may be useful complementary measures further explore the role in health. We explored sensitivity 5 outcomes, namely concentration, homocysteine:cysteine (Hcy:Cys), cystathionine:cysteine (Cysta:Cys), 3´-hydroxykynurenine ratio (HKr), 4-pyridoxic acid (PAr) intake as well personal lifestyle characteristics. Dietary biomarker data were collected from participants 3 nested case-control studies within European Prospective Investigation into Cancer Nutrition (EPIC).
