ABSTRACT
Abstract Aim To search the risk factors for inguinal hernia development by performing bioelectrical impedance analysis. Material & Methods Prospective, multicenter, cross-sectional study. Patients with hernias constitues study group (IH), and patients who admitted other surgical problems in control (SC). Age, gender, BMI of were recorded. Body composition measurements done The relations between obtained parameters evaluated. Results 9 female 125 male a mean age 53.4± 15.4 IH, whereas 44 women 24 men 44.5±15.9 There statistically significant differences two groups regarding BMI, total body fat, lean abdominal muscle mass, fat amount, visceral rates. Male low rate, mass rate determined as univariate Only was found to be an independent factor. Conclusions Low is factor development.
