ABSTRACT
Development of biocuration processes and guidelines for new data types or projects is a challenging task. Each project finds its way toward defining annotation standards ensuring consistency with varying degrees planning different tools to support and/or report on consistency. Further, this process may be type specific even within the context single project. This article describes our experiences eagle-i, 2-year pilot develop federated network repositories in which unpublished, unshared otherwise 'invisible' scientific resources could inventoried made accessible community. During course eagle-i development, main challenges we experienced related difficulty collecting curating while system model were simultaneously built, deficiency diversity management strategies laboratories from source was obtained. We discuss approach importance improving information research process, specifically regard inventorying usage resources. Finally, highlight commonalities differences between similar efforts hope that lessons learned will assist other endeavors. DATABASE URL: www.eagle-i.net.
