ABSTRACT
LocSigDB (http://genome.unmc.edu/LocSigDB/) is a manually curated database of experimental protein localization signals for eight distinct subcellular locations; primarily in eukaryotic cell with brief coverage bacterial proteins. Proteins must be localized at their appropriate compartment to perform desired function. Mislocalization proteins unintended locations causative factor many human diseases; therefore, collection known sorting will help support important areas biomedical research. By performing an extensive literature study, we compiled 533 experimentally determined signals, along the that harbor such signals. Each signal annotated its localization, source, PubMed references and linked UniProt organism information contain same amino acid pattern as given signal. From webserver, users can download whole or browse/search data using intuitive query interface. To date, most comprehensive compendium locations. Database URL: http://genome.unmc.edu/LocSigDB/
