ABSTRACT
Abstract It is well established that a strong social network an important factor for successful ageing, specifically promoting and maintaining psychological wellbeing at older ages. Strong networks are source of support especially time need, can also help adults remain connected, active, engaged in group activities. In this study, we seek to better understand the underlying pathways relationship between depressive symptoms, comparing extent which mediated by receipt material/monetary support, relative perceived isolation. We use data from Panel on Health Aging Singaporean Elderly, nationally-representative study Singapore citizens permanent residents aged 60 years 2009 (N=4990), with two follow-up surveys 2011 (N=3103) 2015 (N=1572). conduct cross-lagged mediation analysis, control number potential confounders including cognitive function, chronic physical ailments, socioeconomic status, demographic variables such as age, sex, marital family size. Our preliminary analysis shows reciprocal symptoms larger isolation compared weaker support.
