ABSTRACT
Health promotion aims to ensure that the population has improved living and health conditions, schools are appropriate environments in which do this. The purpose of this study was investigate impact terms oral special for mentally disable pupils Brazil. cross-sectional adopted a qualitative quantitative approach, using triangulation methods observe reality. An epidemiological survey performed order analyse status; semi-structured questionnaire participative observation were used analysis activities undertaken schools; case studies carried out evaluate profile status context schools. sample comprised 383 school-children aged 2-19, stratified among 7 schools, Curitiba/Paraná/Brazil. by means frequency distribution associations between variables, SPSS 16.0 program. prevalences studied dental caries, 49.3%; bleeding gums, 23.8%; trauma, 11% toothache last 3 months, 17,8%. Dental caries gums experience associated with level mother's education (p<0.00) age group (p<0.00). trauma months (p<0.00 p<0.00, respectively). Analysis dimensions demonstrated is being promoted all studied. However, indicators per school revealed possible interference socio-demographic aspects results.
