ABSTRACT
Using cluster analytical procedure, this study aimed (i) to determine whether people could be differentiated on the basis of coping profiles (or unique combinations strategies); and (ii) examine relationships between these perceived stress health-related behaviors. A sample 578 French students (345 females, 233 males; M(age)= 21.78, SD(age)= 2.21) completed Perceived Stress Scale-14 ( Bruchon-Schweitzer, 2002), Brief COPE Muller Spitz, 2003) a series items measuring two-phased analytic procedure (i.e. hierarchical non-hierarchical-k-means) was employed derive clusters strategy profiles. The results yielded four distinctive profiles: High Copers, Adaptive Avoidant Copers Low Copers. showed that differed significantly in displayed higher levels engaged more unhealthy behavior, compared with who reported lower healthy These findings suggested individuals' relative reliance some strategies de-emphasis others may advantageous way understanding manner which individuals cope stress. Therefore, analysis approach provide an advantage over traditional statistical techniques by identifying distinct might best benefit from interventions. Future research should consider deeper health outcomes identify risk groups.
