Empowerment for healthy nutrition in German communities: a study framework

ABSTRACT
Empowerment is seen as a key strategy for sustainable health promotion efforts. However, there only limited research on how to link the empowerment approach of healthy eating, which major current public issue. The article presents development study framework implementing and evaluating an intervention nutrition. This was created community meaning involve elderly citizens in Bavaria, Germany. protocol developed iterative process basing (i) literature reviews topics relation nutrition mixed-methods evaluation, (ii) workshops with experts (iii) consultations local representatives. Through these measures we identified good practice criteria well specific challenges integrating nutrition, e.g. engaging people reconciling participants' preferences priorities bottom-up activities community. Consequences design were deducted from consultations, practical recommendations power could be gradually assigned group members.
