ABSTRACT
Background. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and/or hepatitis B (HBV) coinfection with human immunodeficiency (HIV) has a greater risk of mortality than either HCV or HBV infection alone and is frequently associated flares after antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation. Methods. We performed retrospective cohort study 287 HIV-positive persons coinfected (70 had only, 207 coninfection 10 coinfections) who pre-ART plasma samples evaluated for biomarkers death (within 4 years) flare months) ART A predictive biomarker score was calculated. Results. Forty-eight deaths 50 occurred. Nonsurvivors were older, more prior AIDS-defining events, higher triglycerides aspartate transaminase levels. Detectable hyaluronic acid d-dimer, interleukin 6, 8, soluble CD14 levels in univariate models composite score. The only (24.3%) (50%) (13.5%). Higher alanine also flares. Conclusions. Among patients are initiating ART, inflammation coagulation an increased death, whereas
