ABSTRACT
Abstract BACKGROUND A number of vertical prolongations the superior longitudinal fasciculus, which we refer to as rami (Vr), arise at level supramarginal gyrus, directed vertically toward parietal lobe. OBJECTIVE To provide first published complete description white matter tracts (WMT) Vr, their relationship intraparietal and parieto-occipital sulci (IPS-POS complex), importance in neurosurgical approaches METHODS Subcortical dissections Vr WMT IPS were performed. Findings correlated with a virtual dissection using high-resolution diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) tractography data derived from Human Connectome Project. Example planning transparietal, transsulcal operative corridor is demonstrated an integrated neuronavigation optical platform. RESULTS The shown contain component fibers fasciculus (SLF)-II SLF-III, contributions middle merging into medial bank IPS. anatomic findings well DTI tractography. line extending lateral extent POS marks ideal sulcal entry point that have termed IPS-POS Kassam-Monroy (KM) Point, can be used permit safe parafascicular surgical trajectory trigone. CONCLUSION are newly conceptualized group along banks IPS, mediating connectivity between lobe dorsal stream/SLF. We suggest refined ventricular atrium utilizing posterior third or order mitigate risk its considerable potential for postsurgical morbidity.
