ABSTRACT
Pollen development is a key process for the sexual reproduction of angiosperms. The Golgi plays critical role in pollen via synthesis and transport cell wall materials. However, little known about molecular mechanisms underlying maintenance integrity plants. In Arabidopsis thaliana, syntaxin plants (SYP) 3 family proteins SYP31 SYP32 are only two Golgi-localized Qa-soluble N-ethylmaleimide sensitive factor attachment protein receptors (SNAREs) with unknown endogenous functions. Here, we demonstrate roles modulating morphology development. Two independent lines syp31/+ syp32/+ double mutants were male gametophytic lethal; zero transmission rate syp31 syp32 mutations was restored to largely normal levels by pSYP32:SYP32 but not pSYP32:SYP31 transgenes, indicating their functional differences initial arrest occurred during transition from microspore bicellular stage, where plate formation mitosis I (PMI) deposition intine abnormal. pollen, number length cisterna significantly reduced, accompanied many surrounding vesicles, which could be attributed defects anterograde retrograde trafficking routes. directly interacted COG3, subunit conserved oligomeric (COG) complex responsible its localization, providing an mechanism SYP31/32 function intra-Golgi trafficking. We propose that play partially redundant structure.
