Vitamin Bl2 Treatment for Sleep-Wake Rhythm Disorders

ABSTRACT
Vitamin B12 (VB12) was administered to two patients suffering for many years from different sleep-wake rhythm disorders. One patient a 15-year-old blind girl free-running (hypernychthemeral syndrome) with period of about 25 h. In spite repeated trials entrain her cycle the environmental 24-h rhythm, freerunning persisted 13 years. When she 14 old, administration VB12 per os started at daily dose 1.5 mg t.i.d. Shortly thereafter, entrained and maintained while on medication. Within 2 months withholding VB12, reappeared. The level in serum within normal range both before after treatment. other 55-year-old man delayed sleep phase syndrome since 18 age. After doses mg, his disorder improved. good therapeutic effect lasted more than 6 he
