ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT The relationships between expansion volume and physical properties of three varieties popcorn kernels were investigated on a single kernel basis. Physical studied size, sphericity, density. Methods measuring densities popped volumes individual developed. Popcorn separated into seven sizes by screening with round‐hole sieves. Thirty from each (4.76 < D 5.16, 5.56 5.95, 6.35 6.75 mm) individually measured for density, volume. Density sphericity measures showed little variability. Variety, density had minor effects Kernel size no effect. There strong linear ( R 2 = 0.28) among the kernels. variety highest mean tendency producing higher volumes.
