ABSTRACT
An interactive, iterative smartphone application was used on color images to distinguish diseased from healthy plant tissues and calculate percentage of disease severity. The user touches the application's display screen select up eight different colors that represent tissues. then moves a threshold slider until only symptomatic have been transformed into blue hue. pixelated image is analyzed percentage. This study reports accuracy, precision, robustness Leaf Doctor using six diseases with typical lesions varying Estimates severity were highly accurate (R2 ≥ 0.79; Cb 0.959) compared estimates obtained discipline-standard, Assess. Precision operationally defined as ability rater use repeatedly obtain similar percentages for same image. Coefficients variation low (0.51 14.1%) across all datasets but significant negative relationship found between coefficient mean Other advantages included comparatively less time processing, cost, ease use, send results by e-mail, create realistic standard area diagrams. compatible iPhone, iPad, iPod touch optimized iPhone 5.
