ABSTRACT
To characterize peripheral eosinophil migration in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis the presence of nasal mucin and tissue extracts.Prospective, controlled, ex-vivo.Peripheral blood eosinophils, mucin, were harvested at time sinus surgery 10 patients, as well obtained healthy control subjects. Extracts prepared from tissue. A modified Boyden chamber was used to study both subjects extracts.Patients all demonstrated a concentration-dependent increased eosinophils extracts. The percentage consistently higher for compared difference attained statistical significance 50% extract (median migration, 23.3% vs. 7.8% [ P=.033]).Nasal contains chemoattractants, which can induce active migration. Because blood, this finding suggests activation systemic circulation rhinosinusitis.
