ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Wound Bed Preparation is a paradigm to optimize chronic wound treatment. This holistic approach examines the treatment of cause and patient-centered concerns determine if healable, maintenance wound, or nonhealable (palliative). For healable wounds (with adequate blood supply that can be corrected), moisture balance indicated along with active debridement control local infection abnormal inflammation. In wounds, emphasis changes patient comfort, relieving pain, controlling odor, preventing by decreasing bacteria on surface, conservative slough, management including exudate control. this fourth revision, authors have reformulated model into 10 statements. article will focus literature in last 5 years new interpretations older literature. process designed facilitate knowledge translation clinical setting improve outcomes at lower cost healthcare system. GENERAL PURPOSE To present 2021 update paradigm. TARGET AUDIENCE continuing education activity intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses an interest skin care.
