ABSTRACT
Different anatomic parameters were measured on radiographs of the healthy hip 47 patients with unilateral slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE). Data compared those from 36 hips 23 adolescents matched in age, weight, and stature. During 5 years follow-up, eight SCFE developed slippage contralateral side. Patients had a lower physis-diaphysis angle larger physeal sloping AP view than controls, reflecting more vertical orientation physis. In axial view, control mean value posterior physis degrees, 12 degrees cases 18 developing bilateral SCFE. The risk disease can be predicted by measuring morphometric parameters, most important factor being view. Prophylactic pinning side should strongly recommend only showing an over degrees.
