ABSTRACT
PURPOSE: Industry-supported research helped advance peripheral nerve surgery but raises concerns about conflict of interest. We asked: is there an association between industry payment to study authors and the reported outcomes after grafts conduits? METHODS: A systematic literature review was conducted Jan-2005 Sep-2023. Studies reporting 2-point discrimination, monofilament testing medical counsel scales for muscle strength repair with allograft or conduit were extracted. Study details extracted independently by two reviewers, resulting in 20relevant studies. Payments made prior following can introduce potential bias. Therefore, we pooled total value received per summing amount each author from companies as Open Database. quality low, mostly due high lost-to-follow-up. RESULTS: Every one more who before some form payment. Specifically 83%(114/146) all payments. The mean $314,472(range $103-$1,086,215). Since studies payment, it not feasible compare potentially biased unbiased CONCLUSION: assessing conduits low. fact that concerning. Due substantial cost allografts healthcare system patients, level evidence necessary justify their use.
