ABSTRACT
To determine the association between ability of a different strains meningococci to survive in whole blood and age donor.A panel serogroup B C strain Neisseria meningitidis was tested an ex vivo model. Blood from 81 healthy children 20 adults during convalescence (55 patients) or (43 meningococcal infection assessed.Age-dependent acquisition killing bacterial isolates demonstrated with inverse relationship reported incidence disease. After meningococci, evidence bacteria found even <2 years age, survival strain, MC58, being reduced compared that (median, 64% 194.5% at 90 min). In both affected controls, there significant correlation MC58 other meningococci. The model measures humoral cellular mechanisms responsible for bactericidal activity blood. The first described 80 ago, but this is description its dependency. Acquisition more rapid infected directed various indicating presence cross-reactive antigen(s).
