ABSTRACT
The frequency of gastrointestinal (GI) tract involvement in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) at diagnosis is reported to be below 30%. To investigate the actual GI by MCL, upper and lower endoscopy was prospectively performed on 13 untreated MCL patients diagnosis. Multiple biopsies from endoscopically normal abnormal gastric colonic mucosa were studied with immunohistochemistry (IHC) for CD20, CD5, cyclin D1, as well fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH) t(11;14) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) immunoglobulin heavy gene. Abnormal identified 38% cases (mainly mild nonspecific gastritis) 54% (mostly micropolyps). Histologically, infiltration demonstrated stomach 77% colon cases. As a whole, 92% showed or MCL. Histologic evidence present all mucosa, but it also observed two-thirds unremarkable mucosa. Positive D1 IHC seen instances displaying CD20 CD5-positive lymphoid infiltrates, whereas FISH 63.5% PCR clonal 64% those instances. In conclusion, great majority time diagnosis, not uncommonly form minute infiltrates. significantly more sensitive than gene confirm this setting.
