ABSTRACT
In Brief Though the etiology of hemifacial atrophy is still unknown, aim its reconstruction cosmetic amelioration defect. Among many techniques introduced, microsurgical has become gold standard to restore symmetry face. Seven free anterolateral thigh adipofascial flaps were used reconstruct between September 1999 and May 2005. There 1 male 6 females in series. All patients had unilateral disease (6 right left). The average age onset was 11.9 years. duration 6.7 patients’ 25 years (range, 21 32 years), follow-up period 12.6 months 36). size transferred flap ranged from 8 × cm 12 13 cm. survived completely. No complications occurred. result stable, no recurrence facial seen after follow-up. One patient received minor revision because bulky reconstructed esthetic appearance face acceptable. Despite a variable vascular anatomy that can give rise some surgical challenge raising flap, authors conclude this safe reliable for atrophy. with satisfactorily flaps. Satisfactory stability noted at year, only single required.
