ABSTRACT
Purpose Although evidence is increasing that the most effective treatment for severely subluxated or dislocated hips a one-stage comprehensive approach there are few studies compare results with traditional (varus derotational osteotomy, VDRO). The purpose of this study to evaluate clinical and radiologic outcome after reconstruction versus VDRO alone. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 52 in 39 consecutive patients spastic cerebral palsy treated from January 1997 2007. Group A (36 hips) was San Diego osteotomy group B (16 Mean age 8.1±3.6 years. follow-up 4.4 Evaluation performed according criteria (hip range motion, pain, sitting comfort) radiographic parameters [center-edge angle, acetabular index, neckshaft Reimer's Index (MI)]. Results There were no delayed unions, avascular necrosis femoral head, postoperative infections either group. significant decrease pain improvement center-edge angle index combined approach. Of who had alone 25% needed revision procedures none other procedures. Conclusions obtained by procedure far better than doing justifying more extensive Consideration should be given performing hip subluxation dislocation.
