ABSTRACT
Objectives: A clinical scoring system for patients with status epilepticus was developed predicting outcome, planning the level of monitoring needed, and guiding treatment. The aim to confirm external validity transportability Status Epilepticus Severity Score prediction functions outcome in adult epilepticus. Design: Observational cohort study. Setting: Tertiary academic medical care center. Patients: Consecutive ICU Interventions: None. Measurements Main Results: History seizures, age, seizure type, consciousness were determined at onset, order calculate Score. main measure ability accurately predict by measures discrimination calibration. Among 171 a mean age 64.1 years (± 16.3), mortality 18%. receiver operating characteristic curve death had an area under 0.744 optimal cutoff point greater than or equal 4. Hosmer-Lemeshow statistics revealed good calibration (chi-square goodness-of-fit test = 1.39; p 0.845). Conclusions: This study is first independent validation predictive accuracy its Measures indicated that performed reasonably well on our However, specific survival versus different proposed.
