ABSTRACT
The Chinese 1992 staging system for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) was revised in 2008 and renamed as the system. seventh edition of American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) manual also defined new rules classifying NPC 2010. purpose current study is to compare 2 terms patient distribution efficacy predicting prognosis.A total 816 patients with untreated nondisseminated who underwent magnetic resonance imaging scan nasopharynx neck were studied retrospectively. All scans reevaluated independently by radiologists specialized head cancers. restaged according AJCC NPC.Using systems, consistency distributions T, N, overall stages found be moderate, κ value 0.65, 0.54, 0.46, respectively. According proportion I, II, III, IV accounted 2.3% versus 2.3%, 11.0% 23.7%, 39.4% 49.1%, 47.3% 24.9%, T classification better 5-year local relapse-free survival, whereas N superior distant metastasis-free survival. However, survival curves comparable both systems. We revealed a slightly stage comparing prognostic considered better, that superior.
