Paederus Dermatitis Featuring Chronic Contact Dermatitis

ABSTRACT
Paederus dermatitis is a distinct variant of acute irritant contact caused by mucocutaneous with the specific toxin an insect belonging to genus Paederus. It characterized sudden onset erythema and vesiculobullous lesions on exposed skin, special predilection for periorbital region. species have been mostly identified in Africa, Asia, Australia, Central/South America. We report 51-year-old woman who experienced 4 recurrences edema previous year. No consistent etiology could be established at beginning. Only after taking detailed medical history was it discovered that 1 year before our examination, patient had traveled Kenya, where she insect. This fact led us diagnosis dermatitis. After appropriate treatment, complete regression observed over 3-week period.
