ABSTRACT
Background: Due to migration, Chagas disease is a significant public health problem in Latin America, and other nonendemic regions. The 2 drugs currently available for the treatment, nifurtimox benznidazole (BNZ), are associated with high risk of toxicity therapeutic doses.Excretion drug into human breast milk potential source unwanted exposure pharmacologic effects nursing infant. However, this phenomenon was not evaluated until now, measurement techniques both were developed. Methods:In work, we described development simple fast method quantify BNZ using pretreatment that involves acid protein precipitation followed by tandem microfiltration, reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography/ultraviolet analysis. It because it takes only 3 steps obtain clean extracted solution ready inject highperformance chromatography equipment. It complete analysis sample 36 minutes. Results: Although composition very variable, lipids one most difficult compounds up on sample, procedure has proven be robust sensitive limit detection 0.3 mg/mL quantization 0.9 mg/mL.Despite 70% recovery value, which could considered relatively low result, reproducible (coefficient variation ,10%) analytical response under linear range good (r = 0.9969 adjusted).Real samples from patients treatment dosed support validation process method. Conclusions:The fast, specific, accurate, precise, sufficiently clinical context quantification milk. For all these reasons, suitable evaluation studies.
