ABSTRACT
In Brief Purpose: To evaluate the response to primary bevacizumab treatment of eyes with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and choroidal neovascularization (CNV) a large pigment epithelial detachment (PED) component compare increase in visual acuity reabsorption retinal fluid PED CNV AMD minimal no component. Methods: We reviewed 43 consecutive on therapy. There were 13 30 CNV. Only patients previous for those started purely intravitreal taken study. Pigment size, time collapse, or subretinal resolution determined as was Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study vision. Time intraretinal compared between group non-PED using survival analysis. Results: having component, sub- initially resolved faster than sub-PED (P = 0.03). The itself highly resistant. Visual improvement similar both groups. Conclusion: Despite monthly injections neovascular PED, majority had PED. Sub- without PEDs, but after 7 months, vision change intra- two did not appear be related size. Bevacizumab very effective reducing more detachment, detachment. detachments, neovascularization.
