ABSTRACT
To evaluate and report the efficacy of fibrin glue (FG)-assisted augmented amniotic membrane transplantation (AMT) in patients with large corneal perforations. In a retrospective case series, 10 perforations more than 2 mm diameter were treated "FG-assisted AMT." A 5- or 7-ply "augmented membrane" (AM) was constructed by applying FG to each sheet AM repair perforation. The designed 0.5 larger transplanted onto perforation site 10-0 nylon suture. If needed, additional overlay sutured on top.The mean ulceration 2.7 +/- 0.95 (range, 2-5 mm). All retained their own globes after procedure had well-formed deep anterior chambers, 90% showed complete epithelialization over AM. reepithelialization time 14.9 4.9 days 10-24 days). No eyes evidence infection recurrent melting during follow-up period.FG-assisted AMT easily performed for repairing perforations. This surgical method very helpful stabilizing wound early postoperative period.
