ABSTRACT
This study was conducted to compare endothelial cell (EC) loss, visual outcomes, and complications after deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) penetrating (PK) in the contralateral eyes of same patients.A retrospective cohort undertaken at Samsung Medical Center, Seoul Korea. We reviewed records 8 patients (16 eyes) who underwent PK one eye DALK eye. The procedures were performed according Anwar Teichmann big-bubble technique. EC acuity, refractive status, evaluated these techniques.EC density significantly higher compared with (at 12 months: 2045.8 ± 664.8 vs. 1732.6 793.2, P = 0.044; 24 1900.3 352.2 1416.2 456.1, 0.013). mean postoperative astigmatism -3.46 2.57 diopters DALK-operated versus -3.38 2.48 PK-operated (P 0.780), best-corrected acuity 0.14 0.13 logarithm minimum angle resolution, respectively 0.870). There no significant differences uncorrected error between throughout follow-up period. Rejection episodes reported 2 eyes. No graft failures occurred.Over 2-year DALK, loss lower, whereas outcomes comparable those rejection occurred is an effective alternative surgical procedure for corneal stromal pathologies.
