ABSTRACT
To examine the prevalence of ocular surface disease (OSD) in glaucoma patients. This was a cross-sectional study. One hundred and one patients, 18 years age or older, with open-angle hypertension were consecutively recruited for Patients history use cyclosporine, steroids, topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, punctal plugs within last 3 months excluded. Each patient completed an Ocular Surface Disease Index questionnaire underwent evaluation by Schirmer test, corneal conjunctival lissamine green staining, tear break-up time.Using measuring symptoms dry eye, 60 (59%) patients reported at least 1 eye. Severe 27 (27%) patients. testing showed 62 (61%) decrease production deficiency presented 35 (35%) Corneal staining positive results 22 (22%) None had severe staining. Tear time abnormal quality 79 (78%) found eye 66 (65%) Multivariate logistic regression models used to investigate association between number benzalkonium chloride (BAK)-containing eyedrops on clinical tests OSD. After adjustment sex, each additional BAK-containing eyedrop associated approximately 2 times higher odds showing test (odds ratio=2.03; 95% confidence interval: 1.06 3.89; P=0.034).A large proportion signs and/or OSD The coexistence medications may impact vision-related life this population.
