ABSTRACT
Purpose: To evaluate and compare the diagnostic specificities of peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness, macular ganglion cell-inner plexiform (GC-IPL) optic head (ONH) measurements in nonglaucomatous myopic individuals. Methods: In a prospective, cross-sectional study, participants underwent complete ophthalmic examination, screening automated visual field test, axial length measurement. The study eye then scanning using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) instrumentation to determine RNFL GC-IPL ONH measurements. False-positive rates for each OCT-derived parameters, predefined criteria an abnormal were calculated. Comparative analysis was performed McNemar test. Results: Data from 43 eligible subjects analyzed. mean age 30±6.8 years (range, 22 50 y) with average 25.26±1.21 mm 23.06 29.07 mm) spherical equivalent −4.50±1.93 D −1.00 −9.00 D). false-positive rate higher when parameters compared both (47% vs. 7%, respectively; P<0.001) 26%, P=0.049) parameters. (26% P=0.039). Conclusions: Caution should be exercised relying on thickness values diagnose glaucoma perform better than may increase specificity this population.
