In Brief Objective. To quantify the coverage and monitor factors associated with opportunistic cervical cytological screening in Spain. Materials Methods. Population-based survey of selected women through Access Panel technique representative general population. A total 6,852 (60%) replied to questionnaire; 981 (14.3%) were excluded from analysis because they did not meet criteria. Data adjusted for regions, age group, socioeconomic level (SEL), municipality size. Moreover, information was collected on preventive gynecological revisions received. Categorical variables evaluated χ2 test heterogeneity or a liner trend. Multivariate prevalence odds ratios used identify statistically significant determinants using logistic regression modeling. Results. The percentage 18 65 years old Pap smear within last 3 75.6%. Insufficient observed older than 55 (66%), who live rural areas lower SEL (65%), some regions (61%-66%). positively 26 years, certain higher SEL, larger size, ever being pregnant, early at first sexual intercourse, knowledge about cancer human papillomavirus, and, very strongly, use contraceptive methods. An overuse cytology can be assumed, as result screening. Conclusions. Spain, reached 75% population, but inefficiencies aspects. rationalize its use, Spanish consensus protocol must followed. Spain is high, it needs improved aspects that are analyzed detail.
