ABSTRACT
Goals: Quantitative Vesikari scales and qualitative severe diarrhea (Vesikari scale ≥11) assessments were used to grade the Salmonella-induced rotavirus-induced gastroenteritis severity. A significant reduction in score was evaluate efficacy of three-combination probiotics (BIO-THREE). Background: Several studies have shown that rotavirus Salmonella infections are leading causes infectious gastroenteritis. Although been effective some studies, use 3-combination formulation is rare. Study: This single-center, open-label, randomized, controlled trial included 159 patients (age range, 3 mo 14 y) hospitalized with between February 2009 October 2010. Results: Patients grouped according pathogen identified (48, Salmonella; 42, rotavirus; 69, unknown origin). The total duration significantly shorter for children who received BIO-THREE (P<0.0001). After administration, there less intervention group at day 3. or frequency results did not reveal differences groups (except 5 rotavirus), no changes other clinical parameters length hospital stay. Conclusions: Seven-day administration demonstrated high safety infants incidence reduced origin groups.
