ABSTRACT
Initiating and weaning procedure of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) on acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema (ACPE) has been determined empirically, the total time its use sometimes prolonged unnecessarily. A simple protocol for may facilitate initiation avoids prolongation NIPPV treatment. We designed a step-wise retrospectively examined clinical outcome our in 45 patients with ACPE. Almost all recovered from respiratory distress successfully. There was no intubation nor complication related to NIPPV. In most cases, maximal-end expiratory less than 7-cm H2O. The mean duration 19.5±28.0 h median 8.0 (interquartile range=14.0 h). This ACPE can quick safe termination
