ABSTRACT
Objectives Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) is overexpressed in human pancreatic cancer cell lines. To determine if serum HSP70 levels are elevated patients with and can function as a biomarker for early detection of cancer. Methods Study subjects were divided into 3 groups: histologically proven (PC; n = 23), chronic pancreatitis (CP; 12), matched normal control (C; 10). Serum determined using novel immunoelectrophoresis method developed validated by the authors. Significance difference between groups was analyzed analysis variance (ANOVA). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve performed to discriminate from controls. Results The mean ± SE PC, CP, C 1.68 0.083 ng/mL, 0.40 0.057 0.04 respectively. PC group significantly higher compared either CP or (P < 0.01). sensitivity specificity 74% 90%, Conclusions increased may be useful an additional
