Quantifying the critical impact nurses have on prevention and early recognition of potential complications adverse events, such as those identified by Agency for Healthcare Research Quality (AHRQ) patient safety indicators (PSI), is becoming increasingly important. In this paper, we describe how AHRQ PSI may be used to identify nursing-specific opportunities improve care based data from national validation pilot project.
