ABSTRACT
A collaborative team developed a yearlong residency experience for staff nurse transitioning to practitioner role in the Veterans Affairs system. To assist others desiring provide support, networking, and infrastructure those into new roles, authors discuss strengths weaknesses of pilot lessons learned related defining trainee versus resident, credentialing privileging, specific mentoring needed practitioner.
