ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact a multifaceted harm reduction program by comparing seroincidence rates HIV, hepatitis C virus (HCV), B (HBV), and syphilis before after implementation strategies among intravenous drug users (IDUs) in drug-trafficking city Southwest China.This is prospective cohort with 24 months follow-up.Two cohorts (cohort 2002-2004 2006-2008) were followed up every 6 for seroconversions HCV, antibodies HBV surface antigen.After Xichang city, Sichuan province, HIV incidence rate IDUs significantly dropped from 2.5 0.6 cases per 100 person-years. Subanalyses also indicated that declined 14.2 8.8 No significant changes HCV or detected IDU strategies.Harm may help reduce high certain blood-borne infectious diseases sexual transmitted high-risk southwest China.
