ABSTRACT
The purpose of this report is to describe the morphological and clinical features two patients with focal choroidal excavation in an attempt understand more about rare condition.Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), fluorescein angiography, indocyanine green angiography were used assess characteristics patients' excavations. Both showed following on SD-OCT: (1) retinal pigment epithelium band inner/outer segment junction followed contour excavation, which involved outer nuclear layers up limiting membrane; (2) sclerochoroidal was smooth undisturbed, but large vessels present beneath each excavation. patient metamorphopsia separation between photoreceptor as well disturbance SD-OCT volume scans hyperfluorescence hypofluorescence foveal region angiography.Symptomatic differences excavations suggested anatomical alterations tips or location cause metamorphopsia. We speculate that pathogenesis involves outward traction macula caused by vascular abnormalities because embryonic developmental failure choroid.
