ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to assess the impact advanced technology new ExAblate 2100 system (Insightec Ltd, Haifa, Israel) for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided focused ultrasound surgery on treatment outcomes in patients with symptomatic uterine fibroids, as measured by nonperfused volume ratio. This is a retrospective analysis 115 women (mean age, 42 years; range, 27-54 years) fibroids who consecutively underwent MRI-guided single center generation from November 2010 June 2011. Mean ± SD total and number treated (per patient) were 89 94 cm 2.2 1.7, respectively. Patient baseline characteristics analyzed regarding their resulting ratio.Magnetic imaging-guided technically successful 123 (93.5%). In 8 patients, not possible because bowel loops beam pathway that could be mitigated (n = 6), patient movement 1), malfunction 1). ratio 88% 15% (range, 38%-100%). applied energy level 5400 1200 J, mean sonications 74 27. No major complications occurred. Two cases first-degree skin burn resolved within 1 week after intervention. Of analyzed, only planned had statistically significant ratio. With technological advancement, outcome terms can enhanced high safety profile, markedly exceeding results reported previous clinical trials.
