ABSTRACT
In severe, infected scalp defects, locally available tissues are not sufficient for reconstruction and often unhealthy. this situation, healthy free tissue transfer offers abundant vascularity of uncompromised that can control infections a single-stage reconstruction. Between March 2002 May 2010, 18 patients (20 cases) underwent traumatic defect with coincident as follows: 16 cases postcranioplasty previous open skull fractures 4 defects without cranioplasties. Eighteen 20 latissimus dorsi flaps: 8 were perforator flaps muscle 12 myocutaneous flaps. The mean flap size was 214 cm2. All healed well during the follow-up period.
