ABSTRACT
The Trochanteric Fixation Nail System (TFN) was designed with a helical blade to improve resistance cutout. We evaluated the incidence, modes, and predictors of failure for intertrochanteric hip fractures treated this device.A retrospective review 341 TFN conducted. Fractures were classified from injury films using Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Osteosynthesefragen/Orthopedic Trauma Association (AO/OTA) classification, quality reduction hardware placement on initial postoperative films. Two hundred twenty-three patients met inclusion criteria. overall rate mechanical complications 20.5%. Twenty-one (9.4%) had excessive lateral migration (≥10 mm). Fifteen (6.7%) in head, including 7 (3.1%) typical cutout 8 (3.6%) medial perforation without loss reduction. Three (1.3%) sustained femoral shaft fracture at tip nail. calcar significantly predictive all modes (p < 0.05), except nail tip.The most common complication blade; however, rarely led clinical problem. Medial head second frequent complication. have identified new associated TFN, that is, Blade less when blades placed inferiorly tip-apex distance least 15 mm.
