ABSTRACT
Two non-motile, orange- or yellow-pigmented bacteria, designated strains KYW48 T and KYW147 , were isolated from seawater collected the South Sea, Republic of Korea. Cells both Gram-reaction-negative, aerobic catalase- oxidase-positive. The major fatty acids strain C 18 : 1 ω7 c (35.3 %), summed feature 3 (iso-C 15 0 2-OH and/or 16 ) (22.7 17 ω6 (19.8 14 (7.4 %) (5.9 those (36.0 (18.3 (14.7 11-methyl (10.7 (9.1 ω9 (8.0 %). predominant isoprenoid quinone was ubiquinone 10 (Q-10). DNA G+C contents 63.8 67.2 mol%, respectively. A phylogenetic tree based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that grouped with members family Erythrobacteraceae formed a distinct clade genus Altererythrobacter (<95.7 % sequence similarity). On basis evidence presented in this study, novel species namhicola sp. nov. (type = KCTC 22736 JCM 16345 aestuarii 22735 16339 are proposed.
