ABSTRACT
An aerobic, motile, Gram-positive strain, DX3-12 T , was isolated from coastal sediment of the Eastern China Sea in Fujian Province, China, and identified by means polyphasic taxonomy. On basis 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity, strain closely related to members genera Planomicrobium Planococcus . similarities between mcmeekinii koreense okeanokoites psychrophilus alkanoclasticus were 97·8, 97·1, 97·5 96·4 %, respectively. Chemotaxonomic physiological properties supported its affiliation genus Strain exhibited common phenotypic such as ability reduce nitrate, but they could be distinguished each other biochemical tests, e.g. acid production glucose, growth temperature NaCl concentration requirements. DNA–DNA hybridization further at species level. Therefore, it is proposed that (=AS 1.3454 =JCM 12466 ) represents a novel species, chinense sp. nov. Based on similarities, signature nucleotides, cell morphology properties, have been transferred psychrophilum comb. (type DSM 14507 =MTCC 3812 alkanoclasticum NCIMB 13489 =CIP 107718 ),
