ABSTRACT
Measurements of the double-differential pi+/- production cross-section in range momentum 100 MeV/c <= p 800 and angle 0.35 rad theta 2.15 using beams incident on beryllium, aluminium, carbon, copper, tin, tantalum lead targets are presented. The data were taken with large acceptance HARP detector T9 beam line CERN Proton Synchrotron. secondary pions produced by a from 3 GeV/c to 12.9 hitting solid target thickness 5% nuclear interaction length. tracking identification particles was performed small-radius cylindrical time projection chamber (TPC) placed inside solenoidal magnet. Incident identified an elaborate system detectors. Results obtained for cross-sections d2sigma/dpdtheta at six momenta. Data GeV/c, 5 8 12 available all while additional 8.9 positive particle Be Al targets, respectively. measurements compared several generators GEANT4 MARS Monte Carlo simulation.
