ABSTRACT
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to describe the evolution date and future directions in research data policy, infrastructure, skills development advisory services an Australian university, with a focus on role librarians. Design/methodology/approach authors have been involved at Griffith, case study presents observations reflections arising from their first-hand experiences. Findings Griffith University’s organisational structure “whole-of-enterprise” approach has facilitated service support data. Fostering strong national partnerships also accelerated institutional capability. Policies strategies are supported by pragmatic best practice guidelines aimed directly researchers. Iterative software commitment well-supported enterprise infrastructure enable provision range management solutions. Training programs, repository planning still relatively immature. recognises that information staff (including librarians) will need more opportunities develop knowledge these as they evolve. Originality/value This provides examples library-led library-supported activities could be used for comparative purposes other libraries. At same time, it critical perspective contrasting areas good within University those less satisfactory progress. While institutions may different constraints or opportunities, some major concepts prove useful advance capability capacity across library profession.
