ABSTRACT
This paper proposes a two-level hierarchical energy management system (EMS) with demand side (DSM) capabilities for grid-connected microgrids (MGs). The proposed strategy is based on model predictive control (MPC) prediction intervals obtained through the fuzzy numbers method. While Main Grid level EMS aims auto-consumption within MG, i.e., minimise drawn main grid, Microgrid tracks power and consumption references, sent from higher level, to manage MG resources load consumption. Furthermore, are used determine best-case worst-case scenarios of operation modify profile while overall during maintained. Operation data generation real urban community validate performance EMS. results show that DSM an adequate case can reduce weekly costs maintaining healthy battery usage compared has no way load. concludes microgrid improve its correct predictions commitment consumers.
