In the summer of 1998, a disastrous flood swept across central and northeast China, along Yangtze River Song-Neng River. The water level broke historical records. A numerous farmland was inundated. Most residential areas industrial sites within flooding region were affected or totally Radar remote sensing played important role in monitoring 1998. Chinese L-band airborne radar system-L-SAR system provided extent distribution Poyang Lake, Dongting Jingjiang segment This paper presents results extent, distribution, development damage assessment 1998 delivered from L-SAR Canadian RADARSAT data.
