400-Gbit/s Net Rate DP-OFDM Signals Fiber-THz -Fiber Seamless Transmission Employing Hybrid Time-Frequency-Polarization Domain Equalization

ABSTRACT
The integration of photonic terahertz (THz) wireless and optical fiber links combines the advantages ultra-long distance, low-loss, high-capacity transmission link with flexible, seamless THz link. Compared single-carrier (SC) modulation, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation technology has higher spectral efficiency exhibits robustness against dispersion in transmission, effectively alleviating multi-path effects communication. In study, we experimentally demonstrated an OFDM fiber-THz-fiber communication system. Utilizing dual-polarization (DP) to double system capacity. Probabilistic shaping (PS) is used adapt rate improve capacity under a limited SNR. Finally, propose 2×2 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) hybrid time-frequency polarization domain (TFPD) Volterra nonlinear equalization (VNLE) algorithm, aiming simultaneously address both linear impairments time-domain, frequency-domain, polarization-domain. 50-GBaud PS-64QAM DP-OFDM signals are successfully delivered over two spans 20-km SSMF 3-m distance at 320 GHz, achieving net 400 Gbit/s thanks MIMO TFPD-VNLE.
