ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Quantitative pupillometry is an objective method to examine pupil reaction and subsequently grade the response on a neurological index (NPi) scale from 0 5. The aim of present sub‐study was explore long‐term prognostic value NPi in comatose out‐of‐hospital cardiac arrest patients undergoing targeted temperature management (TTM). Methods This planned “Targeted for 48 versus 24 h outcome after arrest: A randomized clinical trial.” assessed admission throughout day 3 linked Cerebral Performance Categories score at 6 months. We compared performance 65 target 33 ± 1°C or h. Results values were not different between TTM groups ( p > .05). When data pooled, strongly associated with 1 mean 3.6 (95% CI 3.4–3.8) 3.9 (3.6–4.1) poor good group, respectively < .01). At 2, (3.1–4.0) 4.1 (3.9–4.2) = .01) 3, 3.3 (2.6–4.0) 4.3 (4.1–4.6), ability NPi, defined by area under receiver operating characteristic curve best three. Conclusion measured two groups, but overall, significantly outcomes NPI has promising diagnostic accuracy, larger studies are warranted.
